Review: Firmoo glasses

Hello everyone,
This review has been a very long time coming! The wonderful Firmoo team contacted me some time ago and have been so patient waiting for me which I appreciate so much. They kindly sent me a pair of glasses to review and I can hand on heart say I love them! I was a little cautious about ordering prescription glasses online, but the lenses are perfect and I love the style.

Firmoo glasses*

They fit so well and are perfect for my dodgy distance vision! I love the bold style and they are quite different to my other frames so they give me some variety. They are super light  and feel really durable. Also, how nice is that case? It was such a lovely addition to this pair and keeps them in the best condition. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Firmoo to anyone, their site is so easy to use, the team are so helpful and the quality of the products is great! Next time I'm in need of a pair I will be browsing their site I'm sure. They also have a gorgous range of sunglasses which I am very tempted by!

What do you think of these frames? Have you ever ordered from Firmoo

14 goals for 2014: Revisited.

Hello everyone, and happy new year!

After taking a month out of blogging completely, I feel refreshed and have tonnes of new ideas so I can't wait to really getting blogging again in 2015.

If you have read There's something about Alice for a while, you may remember this post where I went through my `14 goals for 2014`. As I promised a year ago, I'm going to review them to see what I have actually achieved. I find there is something oddly therapeutic about writing a list and ticking things off, and this is basically that for me!

Blogging goals:
1. `Try to post at least once a week, I do this normally, however this is my exam year (GCSE's will be the death of me I'm sure of it) so I'll be under much more pressure and have lots of revision to do, but I am determined to keep my blog going.`

Ok this failed rather miserably. The irony is that I actually blogged more whilst I was doing my exams than when I wasn't! I seem to thrive under a weird pressure of having to do lots of things. However I don't want to be too hard on myself because I am a firm believe in only blogging when I want to, and not just churning out content for the sake of it. If I don't want to write, why would anyone want to read it? I am going to get back into the habit of blogging once a week though I hope.

2. Refresh my design; whether it's just little tweaks here and there or a full on change, I'm sure to get bored of it at some point!

Again this didn't really happen! I did make the odd tweak, but it's not anything worth writing home about. I am however in the process of considering new designs so watch this space!

3. Join this century and get Twitter and link it to my blog, and perhaps to the same with my Instagram account account.

This one I did manage! I was always a little shy about sharing my blog with people I actually knew, (I'm sure a lot of you can relate to this) but I'm so glad I have! I love twitter and being able to engage with so many lovely people on there. If you don't already give me a follow

4. Do more collab posts; I love the blogging community dearly so I want to really throw myself into it and engage directly wit more bloggers.

I didn't really do this as much as I had hoped, although meeting up with Lily was one of my 2014 highlights! We are planning to hopefully meet up again in the spring, and I honestly feel I have made a true friend in her :) Me and Alex are also still talking and hopefully one day we will meet.(Australia and England are sadly not the closest countries.)

5. Attend a blogger meet up or event (see above!)

This is still something I would love to do, perhaps even try to organised one!

6. Do more lifestyle posts. I really enjoy doing my Instagram/general life round up posts, so I need to do more!

I write a few lifestyle posts, mainly of day trips or specific visits, so I'm going to try to double that for 2015.

7. Perhaps reach between 400 and 500 followers? I don't want to jinx it because that is a lot of people if you ask me, but if I did my life would be made!

Ah guess who did that and more! Seeing that Bloglovin counter go up and up honestly makes me glow with pride. I want to thank you all for sticking with me even when this place was totally dead!

Personal goals;

1. Do well in my GCSE's; I'm hoping to get all B to A* and am fully prepared to work hard to get those results.  Wish me luck!

I cannot describe how happy I am that this was the case! I ended up with 4 A*, 5 As and a B. My hard work really did pay off and despite how little faith I had in myself, I did do it. Now I just need to apply the same to my AS levels...

2. Stress less. I am awful at worrying and then ending up getting myself into a state, normally at moment when I need to be working hard. I am going to really try not to breakdown every time something gets tough and instead channel that negative energy into something positive.

I actually think I did manage to do this. It wasn't like I woke up and there was a change, if anything it was totally subconscious. Don't get me wrong, I definitely have had days when I freaked out, particularity in fact starting this term. Balancing the work/school/family/friends ratio was tough and I felt pretty out of control and worried. I remember having a bath and just feeling so bleugh and literally like my whole body was tense, like a clenched fist that just wouldn't relent. But instead of throwing a massive fit, I talked about it and didn't tell myself off. I have such a supportive network of friends and family who are always there for me and stopped me loosing my last nerve, and long may that continue!

3. Get a second ear piercing, I want to do it around my 16th birthday in April, so I guess we'll have to wait and see!

Fail! Defo want this to happen this year.

4. Drink more water; I'm already pretty good at this, but I'm going try and drink a bottle every. single. day.

I did well with this one! I love my water so it wasn't too hard, now I need to work on the exercise...

5. Change my room about. I'm desperate to refresh my room. Just like the blog, I'm getting bored of it!

Sadly this didn't happen, I hope 2015 will be the year though!

6. Explore different  makeup and clothing looks, I think it could be interesting!

I'm going to make a post with all my outfits from this year, so I will let you be the judge of that, this is my one from 2013

7. Get up earlier at the weekends; I am guilty of staying in bed for far too long on those lazy Saturday and Sunday mornings, but I want to really make the most of my time this year and not waste my time lying in bed re-watching YouTube videos!

I had to get this one sorted out, working in retail and lie-ins rarely agree!

I have had the best year. Hopefully I'll have a round up post at some point to share some of my highlights. If you have done a post like this then please feel free to link it below.

Review: YSL glossy stain `Corail hold up`.

Hello everyone,
Sorry I've been so absent this week,I have had a lovely one so far, lots of things to do,and luckily I've not been bored at all this holiday yet!

As you may remember me mentioning, I had my prom makeup done at the YSL counter in my local Debenhams.  The price of having my makeup done was redeemable against a product if my choice, so I deiced to go for the product used on my lips; so step up the YSL glossy stain in `Corail hold up.`

As you can see it is the most gorgeous colour, a peachy coral with the perfect amount of subtle shimmer. The texture of the gloss starts off feeling like water on the lips but after a while it settles, becoming more like a lipstick but i actually really like that. Because It is a stain, the intensity can be build up by leaving a few seconds between the coats you apply, meaning it can be very subtle or as strong as you want it.

It has fab staying power although I do like to whip it out an reapply every so often! The packaging is obviously to die for, but I would expect no less from YSL! The scent and taste reminds me of cherries, normally I prefer lip produts not to have too much of a flavour, but this one is just right. This retails for £25, so is definitely a luxury item. If I'm honest, I'm sure there are lots of glosses on the market for less that are just as good, but really you pay for decedent packaging as well as the product, and I loved having this treat for prom!

Have you tried the YSL glossy stains? What is your favourite gloss?

Review: Lush Blackberry bath bomb.

Hello everyone,
The main thing on my bath time agenda at the moment is relaxing.  What with sitting hunched over books or staring at a screen all day for the last few weeks, coupled with mega stressful exams, lets just say at the end of the day I had been feeling like the worst version of myself. However, one thing I have learnt in my 16 years is that a good bath can do wonders for your mood!

So the other night with an incredibly tight back and my hands covered in all kinds of ink, I decided a good soak was in order; step up Lush's Blackberry bath bomb! This one is specifically designed to de-stress, and it definitely helped me wind down.

Right so lets start with scent, with it's frankincense and bergamot it is frankly heavenly. They are both specifically used to help you relax and I have to say it was a huge help, I layed back and within minutes I felt much better and my back a lot less sore. It turns the bathwater a lovely deep purple, there is nothing in there that requires any clearing up once your done, some might say it's a bit dull by Lush standards, but I like that it want to extravagant because to be honest I was just so sleepy! Although saying that, there is a little `Boom Boom!` message inside which made me smile way more that a little piece of paper should aha! Unlike some  Lush bath bombs, this one doesn't leave any residue on the skin once you're out, but it left me feeling so soft, perfect if all you want to do is hop into bed.

What bath-time treat do you use to chill out? Have you tried this one?

March 2014 on There's something about Alice.

Hello everyone,
How on earth is it April?! 2014 is flying by so far, but what that does mean is that it's time for another monthly round up post. I'm pretty proud that I've managed 15 posts this March, that's practically one every other day, I think I managed a pretty good mix of content too!

Your favorite post- This moths most read (discounting my giveaway) was my pin-board DIY;

I had so much fun doing this so I'm glad you guys liked it as well. Its super easy and low cost so make sure you give it a go too!

My favorite post- My favorite has to be this months face of the day, it's the look I have bee wearing 24/7 so I obviously really like it!

My favourite blog- This month I have been obsessed with Charlotte's blog Things I do, think and buy. Her sense of style is flawless and I get a sense of serious wardrobe envy every time I read a post of hers! She also seems like an all round lovely lady, and I honestly look forward to reading her posts.

Review: Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot.

Hi everyone,
First of all I would like to apologize for my lack of activity this week, I am up to my eyes in school work and revision (and will be for a while to come) so it feels like I've not even had time to sit down, let alone blog! But, saying all that, I have a review for you of a product which has been a huge help to me lately.

As I'm sure I have mentioned plenty of times, I suffer from really blemish prone skin, mainly bought on by hormones and stress; it honestly makes a huge difference to my mood depending on how my skin is behaving, so I have tried my fair-share of spot treatments, and finally, I have found one that really works for me!

Say hello to Vichy's Normaderm Hyaluspot, a clear gel product that I apply after washing my face beofre hoping into bed. It is packed full of spot fighting ingredients like hyaluronic acid and antibacterial salicylic acid + LH, which I feel have been really helping. It's billed as being `invisible` however it is noticeable on the skin, but I must say this isn't an issue for me considering I am just going to bed. The scent reminds me of green tea for some reason, I have no idea if that has any basis, but it does! I like the applicator as well- it applies just the right amount of product and seems perfectly hygienic. I find it gives a slightly uncomforable tingly sensation after it's applied, but it's nothing I can't take- and I am prepared to live with that because of the benefits

So basically, the reason I'm so fired up by this product is that when I wake up, the blemishes I have applied it to are noticeably smaller, less red and less painful- even from the first use! After using this a few nights in a row, they will have totally gone. I have found it most effective on spots that are about to come up, in a sense `nipping them in the bud`. My only criticism is that it leaves the skin around the spot super dry, I have found my concealer clinging (never a good look) to these patches, but i have found using a moisturizer and actually skipping concealer fixes the problem. This costs £10.50, pricier than some treatments but still noticeably cheaper than the likes of Origins- and worth every penny!

I hope this review was helpful- it's fab to find a product that really lives up to it's claims!

Don't forget you enter my giveaway here

Have you tired this product? What is your favorite spot treatment?

February 2014 on There's something about Alice.

Hello everyone, pinch punch first day of the month!
February has flown by, but I am so happy it is March; the days will be longer, brighter and warmer- plus the countdown to my birthday can start ;)

Here's a recap of all the posts this moth, plus what you and I have been loving!

Your favourite post- This months most read was my January favorites, I love writing and reading these so I'm glad you enjoyed! I'm not actual doing a favorites for February, as I haven't really been loving anything new. Although I'm sure March will hold lots of new beauty bits for me to adore!

My favorite post- I really liked sharing how I style my hair and the products I use with you guys, so it's pretty self explanatory what my favorite was!

My favorite blog- This month I have been loving Amber's blog Lovely Notions. Her posts are always so informative and her photographs to die for. She also seems like a right sweetheart and I am incredibly jealous that she is studying in New York soon!

Fifi Lapin iPhone case by Iconemesis.

Hello everyone,
I was recently contacted by Iconemesis asking if I would like to choose an iPhone case from their extensive range. Now two things went through my mind at this stage (a I don't own an iPhone, and b) the cases on offer were two good to be missed! So long story short, my sister received an iPhone recently for her birthday, and she adored all the designs on offer as much as I did, so together we chose the adorable Repeat pattern by Fifi Lapin* case!

I'm sure some of you will have heard of Fifi Lapin; she was hailed` the worlds most stylish bunny` by Elle don't 'ya know. The combination of pink, black an orange is so pretty, and this is defo a whole to cuter than your average phone case. The plastic feels really durable and the print doesn't look like it will ever fade or wear off. The fact that every little bunny is wearing a different outfit is just the cutest thing ever as well! The  embossed Iconemesis at the bottom is a lovely touch too, they have some gorgeous cases on their website- defiantly something for everyone. This case retails for £15 which I honestly think is a fab price for the quality and design.
If only I was the one with the iPhone!

What do you think of this case? Are you a Fifi Lapin fan?

Review: Seek blush by three `CALIFOR.N.I.A`

Hello everyone, I hope your having a fab Sunday,
I have spent mine doing French preparation of a speaking assessment tomorrow and drinking lots of tea; pretty standard!

Here we have a recent love of mine, the new Sleek blush by three palette in `CALIFOR.N.I.A`, a gorgeous trio of cream blushers that are just perfect for when spring finally arrives!

First up, the packaging, of course it comes in the classic Sleek packaging (by name and by nature!) which I totally love and it a lot sturdier than a lot of compacts I own. I also adore the box it comes in, a lovely, more luxe touch. The shades are meant to be inspired by California, (hence the name) and to be honest, I'm not sure how well the theme translates, but they are stunning none the less! `Newport peach` is a bright pink, `The surf` a pretty peach nude and `OC` a coral toned pink. Although I love all three colours, I think `Newport peach` is my favourite, it gives such a pretty flush of colour to the cheeks which stays all day. I love Sleek's blushers, I reviewed the blogger favourite Lace palette here, and I adore this one just as much, I should have a FOTD up featuring it soon! This retails for £10, a fab deal considering that's around £3 per blusher!

Also, I finally got twitter! follow me here

Are you a Sleek fan? What do you think of this trio?
